March 2010:
Last november 2009 we moved house from Friesland to the middle of the country in the village of Eerbeek.We are now exploring homescholing again in combination with the holistic school of Aventurijn in Loenen. The experience week she had earlier was so good that we could not wait any longer and we bought a house here.

Ronald has taken up a job in Amersfoort as an urban designer and we are waiting for the winter to clear so we can go out and enjoy the national park Hoge Veluwe some more. In April we are visiting a few ecoprojects in England again.

August 2008:
We visited a school in Loenen called Aventurijn. This school is a natural learning school like Summerhill or Sudbury Valley. Here the children can choose what they want to do during the day. No rigid school programm or obligated lessons but the freedom to learn what they really want to learn.

Evelien could come to Aventurijn for 1 week to try it out!

After this week we were very positive about the school. It feels really good. The children become very self conscious at this school, they can do the things they like to do and learn in their own way at their own rythm. Evelien loved it and wished she could stay longer.

They play a lot outside in the garden which is about 2 ha. Climbing trees, building dens, growing fruit and vegetables in the permaculture garden.

It is the kind of education that we wish for Evelien.

It would be more ideal if this school was part of a bigger ecovillage/community. So that there could be an exchange between the school and the living community. In this way school is no longer a seperate institute of society but integrated in the living community that surrounds it.
